2025-07-08

SHENZHEN, July 8, 2025 — A delegation led by Jo Cops, President of the International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC), visited the Hetao International Organization Headquarters (HIOH) today. They held high-level meetings with the World WLAN Application Alliance (WAA), the UHD World Association (UWA), and the Comentropy Industry and Standards Innovation Service Center (Comentropy), forging a significant consensus on advancing international standardization cooperation.
The IEC delegation included key members such as Dennis Chew, Director of the IEC Asia-Pacific Regional Center. Representatives from the IEC Division of the Department of Standards Innovation, State Administration for Market Regulation (SAMR), also joined the discussions. In his welcoming remarks, Li Jun, Deputy Director-General of the Shenzhen Administration for Market Regulation, expressed his hope that the parties would achieve further consensus on industrial standardization and international collaboration, thereby injecting new impetus into the sustainable development of global industries.

During the talks, Secretary-General of the WAA Yang Tao presented the alliance's latest research progress in the Wireless Local Area Network (WLAN) sector and its achievements in developing a performance evaluation standards system. The parties discussed pathways for standards alignment and technical solutions, unanimously recognizing the mutual value in the fields of testing and certification. Both sides aim to promote substantive cooperation through standards harmonization and mutual recognition of capabilities.
Wang Bin, Industry Research Director of UWA, outlined the association's overall progress in the ultra-high-definition (UHD) audio and video sector, highlighting breakthroughs in industry standards, ecosystem development, international outreach, and the practical application of these standards. He also conveyed a desire to strengthen standards cooperation with the IEC in the audio-video and LED fields, exploring joint standards development and technical exchanges to advance the application and growth of related technologies.
Representative Fan Jiajun from the Comentropy Industry and Standards Innovation Service Center, introduced the "1+6" innovation model and standardization achievements of the HIOH, demonstrated Comentropy's pivotal role in driving industrial development and standards formulation.

IEC President Jo Cops highly commended the technical achievements and progress of each organization, stating, "We welcome all alliances to share resources and engage in mutual learning with the IEC. We look forward to pursuing in-depth cooperation through mechanisms such as standards alignment, comparison of testing and certification processes, and mutual recognition of capabilities."
The SAMR's IEC Division provided detailed guidance on establishing a formal collaborative relationship for standardization and outlined the official certification procedures. All parties reached a preliminary consensus on key areas, including co-building the industrial ecosystem.
This meeting paves the way for new forms of international collaboration in cutting-edge fields like WLAN applications and UHD audio and video, marking a new phase in global standardization efforts. Moving forward, the parties will leverage technical exchanges and standards alignment as a catalyst to foster a mutually beneficial global industrial ecosystem built on complementary strengths.
